Houston Japan Festival 2010

Houston Press best festival of ‘09!  Join fellow JET Program alumni and more than 20,000 other folks who are crazy about Japan at the Japan-America Society of Houston (JASH) Japan Festival in Hermann Park. Expect to find great food, taiko drumming, marshal arts demonstrations, ikebana, tea ceremony, exhibitors from across the U.S. and much, much more. Entrance is FREE (though you will definitely want to buy tickets for food and drink).

March Karaoke Reminder

Just a reminder that Jennifer is hosting a karaoke group at Sushi jin (Dairy Ashford at Memorial Drive) on March 26th – this Friday – at 6:30 PM! If you are interested in coming, please RSVP through the meetup.com website asap. Space is limited. There’s a $5 room fee per person. Thanks!

Gendai Japan

Wednesday, March 17
Time: 6:00pm
Location: Alamo Drafthouse West Oaks Mall

The Consulate-General of Japan at Houston and the Alamo Draft House – West Oaks are working together to feature “Gendai Japan: Two Films from Modern Day Japan” featuring “School Days with a Pig” and “Tokyo Sonata,” two contemporary Japanese films each offering an unconventional view into modern Japanese society. Come out March 17th at 6:00 PM and enjoy a unique Japanese experience with both films and food!

The Bottom Line:

Both films are free, though seating is limited. Come for one film or come
for both. To assure your seat, make your reservations early on the Alamo
Draft House website. The five-dollar reservation deposit can be returned or
exchanged for a five-dollar food voucher.
